3 Marks of Existence (Buddhism)
My own humble personal take on these three Buddhist concepts:
ANNICA: Just know beforehand that all life has "built in" change involved. One of the Universal laws. So when change happens we should accept it unquestionably (whether for our perceived bad or good). This attitude will help us cope with the changes better and not get hung up on the idea of change. As God said to Jeremiah" My ways are NOT your ways. Do not try to understand just accept".
Examples: Your ART/work situation will change. (good metamorphosis, will evolve). A boyfriend/girlfriend will leave. (perhaps perceived bad but in the long run, a person will realize that a relationship needed to end for their own growth and they needed to have new experiences ortherwise they would stagnate). An illness will come ( if so, take this has a real growing experience, as during illness many peoples say this is when they really get in touch with their true selfs and learn many lessons on what the illness has to impart by way of knowledge to them).
DUKKHA: Contrary to popular belief, Buddhishm is not about suffering BUT overcoming it; so we can really LIVE in a happy and blissful state, knowing what is really important and how the Universal laws function.
Craving and ambition in MODERATION are necessary. They make the wheels turn. Without them we would not get out of bed, create beautiful art, find cures for disease, help others in social work settings, etc...
Always craving to be the best at something, to accmulate vast amounts of money, to think all pelaseure lies in the glitz of the world. These ways of thinking will keep one in "suffering mode".
BUT here, the trick is to KNOW when, TOO much desire is actually clouding our judgement away from the "big picture" of the law of karma. Again learn to play the "game" of the world" but not to be "ruled" by it.
Keep your emotions in check and you will be in control of your life situations and your ego will not be in the drivers seat nor driven in all directions; which would only bring suffering and an increase in bad karma to carry out in future incarnations.
ANATTA: To realize that "I" am not my self, but something more vast and something that includes all other sentient beings and the cosmos at large. This can be an overpowering thought and the true realization of which will hasten enlightenment. Though even this is an incorrect assumption. Anatta is more just a mind/thought that is in perfect communion with things as they are.
